As part of its ongoing commitment to the coin-op industry, Clarion Gaming, Amusement Trades Exhibition International organizer, has established an important link with Greenwich Community College in London, a school that offers amusement and gaming qualifications.

Clarion Gaming has announced that it has given the group free stand space at ATEI in order to help take its message to the industry. The National Coinslot Technologies qualification, part of a new initiative which launched at ATEI 2008, is now looking to expand on its success, Clarion Gaming said.

"We secured an educational grant that allows us to commit to teaching an unbelievably wide range of skills in several different units throughout the academic year," said Furkan Choudry, lecturer in coinslot technologies.

"In addition to the core skills, we also run units on CCTV, on customer service, vending, jukeboxes and sound systems."

Greenwich, which sets out to help those trying to get in the industry, is one of just three sites offering amusement and gaming qualifications in the United Kingdom, the group said. In addition to supporting newcomers, Greenwich provides bespoke training to those already involved in coin-op.

"Greenwich College is able to cover this amount of ground only with help from the industry," said John Fenna, Clarion Gaming’s head of marketing, who has seen students' work firsthand.

"The college would benefit greatly from working partnerships with employers in the sector that would be mutually beneficial for all parties involved," he added. "It is our hope that the college presence at ATEI 2010 will cement links with the industry."
